Synopsis

A townhouse is a residence that many find combines the best amenities of a single-family home and a condominium. By definition, a townhouse is a home that is attached to adjacent houses, which sits upon land that you own.

Issues

1. Most of houses were built without safety precautions towards the dwellers especially towards children.

2. Typical townhouses there are do not cater about the comfortless of these particular people because the layout of the townhouses are small and limited.

3. Lack of social activities and interaction between the neighbors in case of every single lot is bound with fence and gate. Therefore, the freedoms confined.

Renovation of existing townhouses. This is particularly popular activity in order, urban neighborhoods undergoing re-gentrification. Eighteenth and nineteenth century “shells” long in disrepair, are being gutted and totally modernized.Vacant lots, primarily in the inner cities, but also in close-in suburban neighborhoods where zoning restricts high rise housing, are being filled with four or five town houses that are built perpendicular to the street, usually in neighborhoods where the lot size would normally accommodate only one detached house. This activity is in response to the increasing demand for urban housing where high land prices mandate multifamily housing solutions.

This project located at Kuala Terengganu with 20635m2 wide basements and also takes place in about 10km from the city centre. The purpose of this design is to make this cottage industry in Kuala Terengganu especially the way in “Wau Making”

The concepts that have been used are the “ONE” where one will make another separation like engraving motives that decorative the kite. The motive of the engraving stated from one point of coverage and then expands to another direction.The design of this building also has using the concept of one. At the inside, this building have own focal point and then separated to the left and right.

This building also using some approach such as the freedom includes freedom to seeing, moving and freedom to appreciate. This freedom also was taken from kite approach, when at the air. The freedom that mention in building is across using ingredients like transparent glass and the space of arrangement without too chronic.

Besides that, the various structure of mast at the building also can give some imaginative thinking of the approach in the base structure of kite where it is symbolically as tough and stabile. From the top we can see that circle can be connected with “Wau Bulan” be the formal kite for Malaysia. It`s cover with glass to make the natural lighting can enter to the focal point area at the building in the specific times.

Bus StoP

Generally Bus stop is a place where people wait for public transportation to certain destination. Not many activities can be related into this place. Ordinarily people may wait while standing or sitting. Infect, most of the design of the bus stop would only contained the element of column, seats and roof. This project is a paradigm shift towards dragging one mentality and perceptions onto the bus stop.

This bus stop located within the area of National University of Malaysia, which is between Tun Sri Lanang Library and Amminudin Baki Hostel. The concept used is “INFORMATION POINT” whereas information’s are the main source to launch a journey. Analogy of a book is taken because it is where information’s are gathered. Thus the assimilation of that information’s source is interpreted digitally to make it to be told easily.

Hence, all information regarding the travel or routes of the bus are displayed thoroughly on a screen. This bus stop is also applying a voices system or providing some sort of music station so as to pamper the users.

Ticket Box Office

Ticket Box Office is a place that acts to promote and place that sells tickets for the events that will be held and performing at the Penang Performing Art Centre. This building is located at a strategic point which is near the Komplek Tun Abdul Razak (KOMTAR) and the Perangin Mall shopping complex.

The design is concepted of RHYTHM and FLOW where the monogram approach is is taken as the core or the base of this design. Particularly in a category of performing arts, usually there will be plenty of movements and those movements play important roles so that the performing will look more interesting and bring passion to the audience.

Therefore, this building is adapted from those movements to attract people attentions so they will advance to this building to know what the building tries to offer. Unstatic elements can be seen at the exterior design of the building. These elements also contain softness properties, these properties of dynamic and softness are art.Applied material on the building consider the material used at surrounding building like timber, glass, concrete and steel. These materials used by considering the local built context as not to alienated the ticket box office, when it is put at the associated place.

PerforMing Art Centre

PAC (Performing Art Centre) is building or a complex built for performing art, which involve cultures, place and time in Malaysia. Besides that, this building also could hold art performance from overseas because there are performing art those originally left by foreigners especially in Georgetown long time ago. Georgetown used to be conquered by British and they brought labors from India. Other events also occurred like exploration activities from Sumatra, trading from China and religious movement from Arabic.

Therefore, informally exist various sorts of arts evolving from those activities mentioned based on one`s belief and customs.This building sits next to a historical building which is Fort Cornwallis city whereby on this very site was the first placing Sir Francis Light and his follower stopped by.

The design of this building is adapted from elements of historical stories, mainly about three groups who first found Pulau Pinang. So, this building is named “Ragam Performing Art Centre”. Name taken is respect of the first group who found it “RAGAM”.

The land structure of this building is flat. Therefore this building is classified into three part differentiable by height which is according to approach of the three group whereby part one is open area containing food court, part two is administration area and part three is the auditorium.
Less decorative minimalist approach is used on the façade as to respect the surrounding existing building. In addition modern material such as glass, steel and reinforce concrete are used.

Timber and wood also is used as they are original material on the site.Existing trees are maintained as for the landscaping thus shading the open area from receiving direct sunlight. Organic design is applied into the design of the floors of the open area which is adapted from existing trees.
